I think it’s happening. The carefully constructed glass box of my life with all of its structure, organization, and borderline OCD behavior has now developed hairline cracks.
I had a realization this week that I am now one of THOSE people. It happened as I pulled away from a drive-thru window.
I am now one of those people who, when receiving change from the drive-thru, throws it into the cup holder instead of the zippered change purse. (I dug it out later that day. I couldn’t handle it.)
I am one of those people who licks her finger to wipe miscellaneous dried food (or snot) from the face of a little boy.
I am one of those people who, on any given day, has a squeezable applesauce at the bottom of her purse.
But I am also one of those people who lets her stepdaughter go to church with an imperfect, slightly messy ponytail because she fixed it herself–a wonderful sign of independence and growing!
And I am now one of those people who has an extra measure of patience for parents with fussy children in a grocery store line.
Personal growth for StepMolly. It’s a good thing.
